Holiday Harbor Lights

Last night was the official lighting of the boats at the Princeton Harbor.  They had a live band playing Christmas Carols, Santa Claus, Hot Cider over at Princeton Seafood.  It was cold outside, so once I couldn't stand it any longer, Tim and I wandered into Princeton Seafood for a bowl of Clam Chowder...best on the coast!  The end of a really nice evening!

Lighting the Fresnel Lens at Pigeon Point Lighthouse

It was the perfect night for the annual lighting of the Fresnel lens at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Not a cloud in the sky, no fog, and warm. There were hundreds of people there to watch. It really was beautiful.

Harbor Nights!

Tim and I went down to Pillar Point Harbor last Thursday, November 6th to photograph the 1st Car and Motorcycle Show for a friend. What a gas.... The turn out was fantastic, and from what I understand, weather permitting, they are going to try and hold Harbor Nights Car and Motorcycle show once a month. The next show is scheduled for December 4. I will try to keep you posted...Just a few snaps...

SNEAK PEEK . . .

Today I met a very special little girl... she is 9 years old, and has more energy than I could ever imagine... We had a great time, and she was getting really good at posing! She also introduced me to her kitty, who really just wanted to sleep!

The Great Pumpkin

It has been a while...it has been busy...pretty much non stop! Here was one of the highlights. Tim and our neighbor John spent their summer growing Giant Pumpkins to enter in this years Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival Pumpkin Weight Off. Here is the labor of their love. It didn't make, or even come close to the winner at 1528 lbs, but it was a successful first attempt at 209 lbs.

Baby's First Pumpkins

What a CUTIE!!!

This one is too small...I think I found one...Yep, this is the one for me!

This little one just started walking about a month ago and
let me tell you, there is no stopping her now. She loved the
pumpkins at Farmer John's Pumpkin Patch!

Romeo Pier - Ever Changing

Sunset at Princeton Harbor - Romeo Pier...
The day was absolutely gorgeous! You just couldn't ask for anything more perfect. But the sunset, it was - WOW! Of course I was busy watching the light and reflections in the water, and the Great Blue Heron behind the pier.

I spent quite a bit of time watching this Blue Heron while it was hunting for dinner....quite successfully too! What an incredibly beautiful day, what a spectacular evening!

Kauai - The Garden Island

We are back. After two full weeks of doing what we wanted, when we wanted, we are home and well, not much has changed. Work still needs to be done on the house ( I was really hoping that everything would have been completed while we were gone - oh well) and weeds need to be pulled, you all know...it's just the stuff - the stuff you don't have to do on vacation! I missed everyone, and our house and the coastside area, but I miss Kauai. I really love it there. Here are a few pics from our trip.
A beautiful Kauai sunrise...

"Tunnels Beach" early in the morning...

I loved this image...this chair was just sitting there, and everyone would just walk by...
Only one person sat in the chair during the 5 hours we were here at Tunnels Beach.

I loved this cloud. It's Puff the Magic Dragon, and of all places, Hanalei. Who knew?

I love this view of the Na'Pali Coast from Tunnels Beach. The water is so blue/green and the land is sooooooo green.

This was the view from our lanai, but this was spectacular. The moon rising and reflective colors of the sun setting created a pink and purple sky. This was a longer exposure so I balanced my camera on the railing of our 3rd floor lanai. Put the timer on 2 seconds and held the camera still. Of course I didn't bring a tripod...why would I do that? I was on vacation -

This is one of my favorite shots. The color of the water, the color of the wave, the perfect curl. We had a great time - Lots of sun with only two slight sunburns, lots of water, Tim did a bunch of snorkeling. He saw a rather large Eel (+/- 4 feet long) and what he thinks was a Spotted Eagle Ray, along with all sorts of other colorful fish, coral, urchin, etc. I did a little bit of snorkeling, but I am much better on the beach.

ALOHA!

Aloha everyone!

From the "Garden Island" Kauai, I just want to say hi. We have been enjoying ourselves for the past week and we have another week to go. The weather has been beautiful, the people - wonderful, the food - pretty darn good, and the scenery - WOW! Here is our view every morning from our lanai. Who could ask for anything more?

Ahhhh to be a puppy...

I have been baby sitting the past couple of days. He is a 10 month old Weimaraner pup. He is so inquisitive. Well behaved. Very active. More energy than I have. How cute is he? He has eyes to die for. It has been fun, but I am exhausted! Happy Labor Day!

One of My Favorite Girls

As Izzy posses for me on an extremely foggy afternoon, the sky ever so slightly shows a touch of blue, but only for a minute or two, then we were socked in again.

We had a really great walk, but were soaked by the heavy fog just 20 minutes before this photo.

She is such a good girl! Thanks Izzy!

There is always something to see...

While out on a Saturday morning a few weeks ago, a friend and I went to grab breakfast at Ketch Joanne's, and wonder around the harbor area to see what was new. The harbor is an interesting place and changes daily. Here are a few shots from that morning. The light was pretty amazing, and the colors were bright even though it was foggy but not (it kept coming and going). What a great day for both the young lady on the board and the dog! Everyone seemed to be having a great day. Romeo Pier really stood out on this day. It was nice to snap of a few frames! Thanks Jim!

The Gray Days of Summer

It's been gray, really, really, gray - almost a blue gray if you start to really look at it, but it has been beautiful. Sometimes a bit damp...OK, OK wet from the drizzle. Here is a shot of Romeo Pier with the harbor in the backgound. Oh, I can't wait to see the sun again!

A Dog's Day

Dog Day's of Summer

What a great day. What a fine looking group!
The weather here on the coast was, well foggy for the most part, but nice - not cold. There were plenty of people talking...were we going to see fireworks or fogworks? Was the fog going to lift?
We took a bunch of our friends to the beach this morning, and oh what fun they had... These kids make me smile - this is what life is all about!

Here are a few memorable moments...I am sure they all slept well!

Happy 10th Anniversary

Yesterday was our 10th Wedding anniversary!  Neither Tim nor myself could believe it....TEN WHOLE YEARS and we still talk to each other!!!  The funny part of it was, we went out to dinner at the HMB Brewing Company - purely because I love their "Brown Ale" - and as we were just finishing dinner, he was called by the alarm company for work, and they told him fire was dispatched...one thing led to another - we went to his work, he did what ever it is that he does there, then we went over to the HMBFD so he could talk to the guys there.  We were heading home, and he was called in again...so back to work.  Again he did what ever it is that he does and home we went....we not more than pulled into our driveway and he was called in again!  Good thing we were home, I was getting tired of sitting in the truck...

There is more to the story, but it is family related and well sometimes you are just better off keeping that kinda stuff off the airwaves...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Back From School

Wow!!!! What an incredible past three days at Golden Gate School of Photography. My instructor was the fabulous Jen Wilson - www.jenniferwilsonphoto.com with her collegue Lisa Maksoudian - www.lisamaksoudian.com. They are both the most awesome photographers you have ever seen. My head is still swimming with the information and ideas that we were all given. What a great experience! And thanks to everyone with GGS for putting on a great school!

Bare with me on the blogging thing...I am really new at it - like I mean 15 minutes ago. So I hope to add a bunch of photos and stuff as I go!

Walking the Dogs

One thing that I love to do is my afternoon dog walks...
Here is one of the pups I walk in a field of flowers. I see him three times a week, and he is such a sweetheart.
