BayWoof

Wow, things are happening, and that is a good thing!  I was approached by an acquaintance regarding an article she was writing for BayWoof Magazine and if I might have a few photos of my dog or others playing locally here on the coast.  She laughed when asking the question - she knows I have thousands of photos of dogs playing.  Anyway, she forwarded the info for me to forward my images too and guess what, they are in the process of being published!  I am so excited!

I will be in the April magazine, but one of my images is on the cover of BayWoof.com!  So totally excited!

All in the Family

Another image from our adventure to Sacramento to see the puppies and visit with the rest of Gromit's family.  What a zoo.  5 human adults, one human 3 year old, 4 adult boxers and 8 boxer babies in one house.  It was nuts, but it was to worth it.  This is not exactly what I was hoping to get, but in some respects it is even better.  It shows all of the boxers, all 12 of them.  How do you get 12 boxers to stay in one spot?  Good question!

From left to right on top, Gromit's mom Lady, Sister Sammie, brother-in-law Shadow, Gromit and below 8 boxer puppies (Sammie and Shadow's).  They puppies all look like Uncle Gromit!  So fun, and the wonderful smell of a puppy.  For you dog lovers out there, you know what I mean!

Puppies.....lots and lots of puppies!

Yesterday Gromit, Auntie and myself headed to Sacramento to see Gromit's nieces and nephews.  OMG!  They look nothing like moma (who was there) and they look nothing like papa (who came for a visit), but they all looked just like Gromit!  It was like have 8 baby Gromit's running all over the house.  There are only 7 in the photo because number 8 kept escaping.  These little ones are just a little over 7 weeks old and will be heading out to their new forever home with in the next two weeks.  I had so much fun, Gromit had so much fun.  He wanted to play, but was a little intimidated by the little ones who thought Uncle Gromit was pretty cool.  5 Adults, 1 three year old, 4 adult boxers and 8 puppies in one house.  I will post some more picture over the next few days.

Oh, the wonderful smell of puppies.  They are so soft and cuddly and cute and squishy.
What a wonderful day!

Cheeeeese Gromit....take 4

I think I finally have what I want.  I better anyway, I ordered the competition print last night.  I have been trying to re-shoot this image with Gromit and in this case the 4th time was a charm.  I can not express just how difficult it was to get everything as close as possible to the original image.  The reason for the re-shoot was that in the original, Gromit's foot was ever so slightly behind the cheese.  It didn't look right to me and after meeting with a very successful pet photographer, she pointed that out right away and said that the judges were going to get me on that.  So, here is is..take 4 of "Cheeeese Gromit".

Ready...

There was a Tsunami warning issued for the Half Moon Bay Coastal Area this morning, stemming from an 8.9 Earthquake in Japan last night.  Although Gromit is ready for the Tsunami, he is not thrilled with the situation at all...

Re-Shoot.....

I have been working a large portion of the day on a re-shoot of an image I did the second week of January.  I had met a Pet Photographer, a PPA Diamond Photographer of the Year  who I asked if she would critic a photo of mine.  She said she would love to and so even though it was a small image on my iPhone, she gave me her input and I truly agreed.  So, how do you do a re-shoot with a dog?  Get him to stand in the same place?  Wear the same facial expression?  Patients!!! And a lot of treats and breaks.

Cheeeese Gromit....

A study in light...

This afternoon I wanted to spend a few minutes shooting against a new background.  I have a couple of Head shots coming up and I wanted to make sure it was what I had in mind.  Yes, the answer is yes.  Gromit did a fine job as a fill in model too.

Fun at the beach...

We went to the beach and Gromit did all the standard stuff he does at the beach, chase his frisbee, drink the salt water, run up and down the beach...you know, the usual.  We walked all the way down to the end and turned the corner at the breakwater.  The sun was shinning, it wasn't too windy and there were more dogs down here.  We walked down to the end and checked things out and started heading back when about half way we met Otis.  Otis was a LARGE German Shepherd.  They started the standard dog ritual with the sniffing and then sniffing some more, and then the chase was on...

Already....

March 1st...it just can't be!  So I keep trying to tell myself, it's not working.  I am still trying to shake the remnants of this dreaded cold and boy, let me tell you trying to even think about photographing with this couch/headache hurts.  I managed to squeeze a few minutes out of myself yesterday and just played with my new Lensbaby lens, the double glass with the telephoto adapter.  This is what Gromit and I have been doing for the past few days...napping!  Sounds great doesn't it.
